The first model PT 111 PRO
appeared in 2000, announcing the whole new line of the Taurus models, and the
latest was a Taurus PT 111G2 released in 2016. G2 is a typical representative
of diminutive, lightweight, upper-class pistol of considerable firepower intended
for all users who needed serious self-defense handgun. It is an excellent
value-priced small pistol of Generation IV, with a polymer frame, which,
particularly in the US market, has been proving over the last fifteen
years. After a couple of improvements
the entire structure is now reinforced and a more rigid, declaring that the
pistol can cope with +P loads. As the top-selling new model from Taurus family
of semi-auto pistols, the G2 features a ramped 3.2-inch barrel with three
white-dot adjustable very low-profile and snag-resistant sights and an
aggressive stippling on the grip frame with melted edges for added comfort and
easy concealment.

With its sturdy, double stack
magazine housing 12 9mm rounds the PT 111 Millennium G2 has kept a thin profile
and small weight of 22 oz. unloaded. For a comparison, the baby Glock 43
chambered in 9mm weighs about 19 ounces but with a straight stack magazine of
only six rounds capacity. With a length of 6.24 inches, the height of 5.1
inches and width of 1.2 inches the whole G2 Millennium would almost disappear
in shooters hand.
For the newly designed Millennium
G2, the “Taurus" adopted today the most perfect modified Browning locked
breech system called the Sig Sauer short recoil system. The new Taurus compact semi-auto
is striker-fired with SA/DA trigger which also features a second strike
capability.

While the trigger is smooth, its
pull weights are 6 pounds and 9 ounces what is pretty standard for a
concealed-carry gun, and its recoil is comfortable thanks to its grip. Also,
Taurus applied the method of disassembly just like one of Gaston's guns, with
two vertical tabs on the either side of the gun. Furthermore, like their
revolver Security System, the G2 possess the built-in device called the Taurus
Security System (TSS)s enabling to make it inoperable at the turn of a key.
Although it lacks some European
style and feels, the PT-111 is an affordable, reliable 9mm carry gun easily
competitive in its market niche and as proof of it is its title of one of top-selling
sub-compact handguns in the US.
